Cooking Up a Kitchen

ikea-cooking-kitchen

I thought twice about publishing this post.

About a week ago, I received a pitch email letting me know about IKEA’s new advert for IKEA’s new IKEA METOD Kitchen range. I clicked on the link to watch the video and had two reactions:

1. This is clever.

2. Some of this imagery is slightly disturbing and makes me very uncomfortable.

The video literally cooks up a kitchen, using miniaturized IKEA products as “raw ingredients” to highlight the fact that the new METOD range of kitchens can be put together according to very personal tastes.

Like much of IKEA’s products, METOD is a modular system. Each piece allows for easy installation in your kitchen, efficient measurement and accessible combinations of doors, interior fittings, hinges, colors, drawers and frames, etc.

I liked the idea of a modular kitchen and asked for more information. I thought they’d send me more information about the METOD kitchen. Instead, I received pictures from the video and a document with a story about the video.

Strange, huh?

Since Carma’s Cookery is about creativity, and this video is creative, I’m going to share it. It’s clean … you don’t need to worry about the kids seeing it … but I’d love to read your thoughts about the imagery. The scene with the screws gave me the willies.

Choosing The Right Bread Maker

There is something wonderful about the scent of fresh baked bread. But how often do you have the time and energy to do all that kneading, waiting and then kneading again? That’s where a bread maker comes in. However, there are so many to choose from that you might find it daunting to even try looking!

I’m here to let you know that choosing the right bread maker is relatively easy. All you need to do is visit your local store that sells kitchen appliances and choose the one that best suits your needs. Of course, the Internet can play an important role in helping you research before you drive around from store to store. So, how do you choose the right bread maker?

Take a Look at the Space in Your Kitchen
You need to make sure that you have enough room for your bread maker. Though not overly big, it will require some storage, so you want to make sure that you have plenty of space to place the bread maker when not in use.

Product Review: Banana Slicer

banana slicer
I guess I have bananas on the brain. I was just thinking how much I love to add bananas to my cereal in the morning. Ooooh, and they are so tasty in a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. And don’t forget this berry nestled inside an ice cream sundae after supper!

But think of it: all that slicing can become rather tiring and the slices are never perfect. Some are too thick while others are too thin. So what is a banana lover to do? Invest in the new handy banana slicer, which is reputed to be able to handle an entire banana at one time and produce perfect slices for all your banana slicing needs.

The most wonderful thing about the banana slicer is the simplicity of its design. A single piece of molded plastic in the delightful shape of a banana makes this product not only functional but also fun to look at. One quick chop is all you need to quickly slice an entire fresh banana for your cereal or a quick snack. The banana slicer is 10 inches long, so it suits most bananas on the market today. The gadget is also dishwasher safe so there is no messy banana mess to clean up afterwards.
